Unique configurations for GC-MS analysis

We have developed a GC-MS configuration with enhanced sensitivity for a wide range of toxic compounds. Incorporates three stages of analysis aimed at both targeted and non-targeted modes — chromatographic separation, selective detection coupled to EI-MS identification and a software tool for complete data processing.

A unique setup of columns and splitters is used to split the eluents in a controlled manner for simultaneous analysis using electron impact — mass spectrometry (El/MS) for identification, and the detectors, pulsed flame photometric detector (PFPD) and nitrogen-phosphorus detector (NPD), for supplemental information on the heteroatom content. The enhancement in sensitivity enabled us to obtain a reliable MS identification in scan mode at the few-ppb level.
