The department of applied mathematics serves as a national center for integrative risk assessment following the dispersion of hazardous materials in the atmosphere. These include a wide range of scenarios such as those resulting from possible malfunctions in industrial processes involving hazardous materials, including their production, transport, and storage.

A key factor in environmental science is detection of materials of interest. We develop, test and apply various detectors. We are experienced in R&D of stand-off as well as point detectors.

IIBR is the only certified research laboratory in Israel in the field of Physical Protection. The physical protection R&D group is comprised of scientists and engineers with comprehensive experience in applied research and development of protective materials. Our expertise includes sorption and filtration processes, development of novel adsorbents and catalysts, chemical agent permeation through protective barriers and validation of protective equipment with hazardous and highly toxic chemicals.
