Point Detection in the Field
With over 30 years of experience in this field, IIBR's research and development teams draw on specialized experience and unique facilities.
Evaluations of point detection devices are performed in chambers simulating real environmental conditions.
The performance of the device's mechanical and electronic components as well as detection sensitivity and selectivity are among the issues routinely addressed.
Achievements (completed development of products or prototypes):

  • Air sampler – a pre-detector sorbant device which significantly enhances detector selectivity and sensitivity.
  • Personal Chemical Detection Kit – CDK, for detecting nerve and blister agents with exceptional sensitivity.
  • Handheld Semi-automatic Chemical Agent Detector – SCAD, for rapid detection of nerve and blister agents.
  • Portable Explosive Testing Kit - ETKfive, distinguishing between several types of standard and improvised explosives.
  • Drug Detection Kit – DDK, a simple field detection kit for immediate identification of illicit drugs.
  • Bullet hole Testing Kit – BTK, determining whether holes at a crime scene originate from bullet penetration.

Developments in progress:
  • Highly sensitive fast response sensors based on nano chemi-resistor devices for vapor pollutants.
  • Molecular imprinting recognization layers for detection of poisoning in water.
  • Handheld explosive detection systems based on a micro-calorimeter device.

Team services:
  • Assessment and calibration of detectors/monitors.
  • Assembly and production of detection kits.
  • Development of various detectors for environmental contaminants.
